Nomenclatural note
This genus was based on two species, C. trichophyllus Kuetzing and C. parvifolius (Turner) Kützing (Fucus parvifolius Turner), both of which have been referred to Sargassum C. Agardh 1820 (nom. cons.). - (25 December 2009) - M.D. Guiry
