Holotype species: Entodesmis scenedesmoides Borzì

Original publication and holotype designation: Borzì, A. (1892). Alghe d'acqua dolche della Papuasia raccolte su cranni umani dissepolti. Nuova Notarisia 3: 35-53.

Description: Colonies of 4 or 8 cells in a gelatinous matrix, poorly known. Reproduction by vegetative division or by biflagellateswarmers. Stomatocysts and sexual stages unknown. The allocation of this poorly known genus to the Chrysophaeraceae is tentative. Bourrelly placed it in the Ruttneraceae, now part of the Prymnesiophyceae. Found growing on human skeletons in Papua-New Guinea.
