Original publication and holotype designation: Pascher, A. & Vlk, W. (1943). Zur Kenntnis der Chrysophyceen des salzhaltigen Flachmoores Hrabanow bei Lissa a. E.. Lotus 88: 163-177.

Description: Cell ellipsoid, located on a gelatinous basal cushion, possessing a thin wall, and a 2-lobed chloroplast without pyrenoid. Reproduction by longitudinal division, the daughter cellsremaining together on the gelatinous cushion, thus forming small colonies. Swarmers heterokont, with a very short second flagellum, without stigma, settling after a very short time. Stomatocysts not observed. In freshwater ponds, epiphytic on water plants; found only in Czechoslovakia.
