Description: Cell surrounded by a hyaline lorica which by a stalk is fastened to a colony of blue-green algae. Front part of the cell prolonged into an oblique funnel-shaped collar surrounding the 2 unequal flagella. No chloroplasts; nutrition includes bacteria, which are concentrated in the funnel by flagella activity where they are ingested. Stomatocysts and details of reproduction unknown. Epiphytic on blue-green algal colonies in freshwater ponds in Bohemia. There is insufficient information for taxonomic allocation, e. g. the flagella ultrastructure is unknown.Bourrelly (1981) proposes placement near Dinobryon, although placement in the zooflagellates near Histiona might also be a possibility

Contributors
Some of the descriptions included in AlgaeBase were originally from the unpublished Encyclopedia of Algal Genera, organised in the 1990s by Dr Bruce Parker on behalf of the Phycological Society of America (PSA) and intended to be published in CD format. These AlgaeBase descriptions are now being continually updated, and each current contributor is identified above. The PSA and AlgaeBase warmly acknowledge the generosity of all past and present contributors and particularly the work of Dr Parker.

Descriptions of chrysophyte genera were subsequently published in J. Kristiansen & H.R. Preisig (eds.). 2001. Encyclopedia of Chrysophyte Genera. Bibliotheca Phycologica 110: 1-260.
