Description: Unicellular-colonial; thallus joined to the substrate, hard, leathery, more or less spherical or hemispherical, with common ferric precipitations, to 0.5 cm diam. Cells situated irregularly within own gelatinous envelopes or in structureless mucilage, or in irregular rows, sometimes slightly radially oriented. Cells more or less spherical or irregular. Cell division not described, but probably irregular in different planes in successive generations. The only species described from stony, ferric littoral of one lake in Sweden. Very little known genus, not revised after the first description. From the genera Chlorogloea or Chondrocystis differs only by the ferric precipitations.
