Nematoradaisia Geitler, 1925

Holotype species: Nematoradaisia laminariae (Setchell & Gardner) Geitler

Currently accepted name for the type species: Cyanoderma laminariae (Setchell & N.L.Gardner) Komárek & Anagnostidis

Description: Unicellular-colonial-pseudofilamentous; thallus composed of a circular basal disc, in which cells form creeping, radially oriented and pseudodichotomously falsely branched rows of cells, and from short, straight, erect, parallel disposed, not branched pseudofilaments, enclosed in firm, thin sheaths, which are not confluent. The enlarged cells at the ends of erect pseudofilaments divide sometimes into nanocytes. Cell division irregular, combined with later mainly in one plane proceeding fission resulting in pseudofilamentous formations (creeping or erect). Terminal cells of erect pseudofilaments divide sometimes almost simultaneously into nanocytes. Reproduction probably mainly by nanocytes. The only species was described from California (U.S.A.), where it grows epiphytically on Laminaria sinclairi. Still first description not found again. Delimitation from Geitleriella is unclear (another type - not blastoparenchymatous - of the creeping part of thallus).

Contributors
Some of the descriptions included in AlgaeBase were originally from the unpublished Encyclopedia of Algal Genera, organised in the 1990s by Dr Bruce Parker on behalf of the Phycological Society of America (PSA) and intended to be published in CD format. These AlgaeBase descriptions are now being continually updated, and each current contributor is identified above. The PSA and AlgaeBase warmly acknowledge the generosity of all past and present contributors and particularly the work of Dr Parker.

Descriptions of chrysophyte genera were subsequently published in J. Kristiansen & H.R. Preisig (eds.). 2001. Encyclopedia of Chrysophyte Genera. Bibliotheca Phycologica 110: 1-260.
