Holotype species: Mannsia phantasma (A.Mann) T.B.B.Paddock

Description: Frustules with a somewhat circular profile in girdle view; raphe ridge arcuate, not bilobate, in girdle view. Valves narrow and short, highly vaulted with unequal faces. Striae areolate, irregular in length. Helictoglossae large, relatively simple, with adjacent fibula-like hyaline structures. Marine from the Philippines and Porto Seguro, Brazil.
