Description: Unicellular,biflagellate, uninucleate alga without(?) cellulosic cell walls. In frontview, cells 18-22 um wide and 30-35 um long, principally pyriform withbroadened apices and four wing-like longitudinal periplast ridges.Chloroplast single and bell-shaped with one pyrenoid.Asexualreproduction by longitudinal division of an actively motile cell.Dangeard reported that, unlike most other flagellates, bipartition begins atthe anterior end of the cell and proceeds posteriorly.
