Description: Cells solitary, spherical, up to 11-(13) µm in diameter, with or without a mucilage envelope. Chloroplast single, parietal, saucer-shaped, without a pyrenoid. Asexual reproduction by 2-(4) autospores released by mucilaginization or rupture of the mother cell wall. Sexual reproduction and flagellated stages unknown. Hemichloris, cryptoendolithic in rocks of quartzitic sandstone, Victoria Land, Antarctica. Cells solitary, spherical, up to 11-(13) µm in diameter, with or without a mucilage envelope.
