Description: Small marine red algae with filamentous branched basal and erect filaments, elongate unicellular hairs on upper end of intercalary cells, monosporangia solitary or in small clusters, and each cell with a single chloroplast containing a pyrenoid; elongate central nucleus in cytoplasm but appressed to pyrenoid.
