Description: Cellulae raro solitariae, saepe in coloniis multicellulariis coniunctae; coloniae planae unistratosae, sine aperturis et tegumento mucilagineo. Cellulae adultae sphaericae in aquae superficie natantes semiimmersae. Membrana cellularum crassa hyalina levis cum calyptra natatoria. Chloroplastum unum centrale cum pyrenoideo. Nucleus unus in incisura chloroplasti situs. Stigma et vacuolae pulsantes nullae. Propagatio zoosporis membranaceis flagellis binis.
