Description: Terete plants with pseudodichotomous branching and forcipate tips, corticated at the nodes. Cortical development consisting of 7-10 periaxial cells cutting off four cortical initial cells; or cutting of two acropetal cells that laterally form a pseudoperiaxial cell; or two acropetal and two basipetal and a pseudoperiaxial cell. Tetrasporangia originating from periaxial cells uni- or bilaterally, forming 2-3 tetrasporangia covered by cortical cells.
