Nomenclatural note
According to Mikhaylova & Sokolova (2020: 1125), "The genus name Kallymeniopsis Perest. was published by Perestenko (1975: 1679) with a Latin description, but without type indication as required by Art. 40.1 of the ICN (Turland et al., 2018), so it was not validly published. Later, Perestenko attempted to validate the genus name by indicating K. lacera (Postels et Rupr.) Perest. as its type (Perestenko, 1977: 398); she did not, however, provide it with a full and direct reference to the validating description (Turland et al., 2018: Art. 33.1, 41.5 Note 1), so the validation was not achieved. Since the genus name was not validated at the time of publication of the species name K. verrucosa (Zinova & Gussarova, 1977), the latter was not validly published either (Turland et al., 2018: Art. 35.1). The genus name was indeliberately [sic] validated later (Norris, 2014: 344)." However, the genus name was not validated by Norris (2024: 344) inadvertently or otherwise, as the type of the genus name was not validly published by Norris as the page number of the basionym was not provided and the name of the supposed type thus remained invalid. The name was eventually (and inadvertently) validated by Skriptsova, Shibneva & Semenchenko (2023: 75) who provided a description in English, and who correctly designated a valid type for the genus name. - (18 April 2024) - M.D. Guiry

Contributors
Some of the descriptions included in AlgaeBase were originally from the unpublished Encyclopedia of Algal Genera, organised in the 1990s by Dr Bruce Parker on behalf of the Phycological Society of America (PSA) and intended to be published in CD format. These AlgaeBase descriptions are now being continually updated, and each current contributor is identified above. The PSA and AlgaeBase warmly acknowledge the generosity of all past and present contributors and particularly the work of Dr Parker.

Descriptions of chrysophyte genera were subsequently published in J. Kristiansen & H.R. Preisig (eds.). 2001. Encyclopedia of Chrysophyte Genera. Bibliotheca Phycologica 110: 1-260.
