Description: Thalli having a prostrate and erect system of branches, up to 7 mm tall; polysiphonous with 4 pericentral cells, ecorticate. Prostrate system with endogenous branching, attached by rhizoids not cut off from pericentral cells; several erect branches formed in clusters on dorsal side opposite rhizoids. Erect branches simple or with few exogenous branches, cylindrical, ending in straight tips. Reproductive structures on erect branches. Spermatangial capitula cylindrical, near distal end of branch, terminating in a short filament of sterile segments. Cystocarps spheroidal to urceolate, usually only one per branch, sessile. Tetrasporangial stichidia terminate upright branches, broader than thick, two tetrasporangia per segment in straight series on opposite pericentrals; no distortion of stichidial tissue by sporangium.
