Description: Thallus flattened, delicate, central axis with pairs of opposite, distichous pinnately-branched branchlets from each cell, outer cells uniting on contact to form membranous, leaf-like structure. Axes rhizoidally corticated in lower part. Gland-cells abaxial on branchlets. Procarps on basal (supporting) cells of branchlets, carposporophyte development as in Antithamnion, with several involucral filaments. Spermatangia unknown. Tetrasporangia cruciately-divided. Delesseriopsis possesses features in common with Antithamnion and Balliella in tribe Antithamnieae. Its relationships and taxonomic status need reassessment in light of recent studies.
