Description: Free-swimming, biflagellate monads; obovoid and somewhat metabolic; without furrow and gullet, but with two short, superficial rows of ejectisomes in the anterior-ventral region; the flagella equal and homodynamic, arising from a subapical depression; a single chloroplast, bright red to yellow, parietal, boat-shaped, filling about two-thirds the periphery of the cell; a pyrenoid and stigma present or not; forming palmelloid colonies in culture. Known only from a single sample taken off the Plymouth coast, England, and only with hesitation distinguished from the similar genus, Plagioselmis Butcher.
