Original publication and holotype designation: Funk, G. (1922). Über einige Ceramiaceen aus dem Golf von Neapel. Beihefte zum botanischen Centralblatt 39: 223-247, 1 table.

Description: Thallus small, creeping with erect axes, uncorticated, with single determinate branchlets bearing 1-3 papilliform cells. Cells uninucleate. Gland cells sometimes present on branchlet cells. Procarps and carposporophytes unknown. Spermatangial clusters on cells of branch axes. Tetrasporangia, usually pedicillate, tetrahedrally or cruciately divided. Also seirospores in short terminal chains on branches.

Most recent taxonomic treatment adopted: Athanasiadis, A. (1996). Morphology and classification of the Ceramioideae (Rhodophyta) based on phylogenetic principles. Opera Botanica 128: [1]-216, 108 figs.

Comments: Rare. Epiphytic in Mediterranean and western Europe, on shells and corals in Caribbean Sea. Relationships uncertain.
