Description: Thallus filamentous, ecorticate, primarily decumbent with erect apical regions. Lateral branches 2 per axial cell, opposite, with a slight or marked rotation between successive pairs. Determinate lateral branches slightly curved, dichotomously branched. Indeterminate lateral branches arising in place of determinate laterals. Spermatangia in heads on the distal ends of lateral branch cells. Procarps subapical on short fertile axes. Carposporophytes terminal, with inner and outer involucral branches. Tetrasporangia tetrahedral, solitary on the distal ends of lateral branch cells.
