Taxonomic note
Schneider and Wynne (2007) had earlier treated Pterosiphoniella as congeneric with Pterosiphonia mainly on the basis that vegetative trichoblasts have also been reported in Pterosiphonia (in Pterosiphonia pennata by Ardré 1967). Norris (2014) offered morphological features to distinguish Ptereosiphoniella from Pterosiphonia. - (17 May 2019) - M.D. Guiry
