According to Silva (in Index Nominum Algarum): F.E. Round & L. Bukhtiyarova in Diatom Research vol. 11, p. 346: '"group of ... species typified by Achnanthes pusilla (Grun.) De Toni"; thought to have been untypified by Round (Diatom Research 13: 181. 1998), who named Achnanthes pusilla Grunow 1880 as type, but without citing fully the protologue of the invalidly published generic name.'" - (11 November 2006) - G.M.
