Holotype species: Dalmatogloia bryozoi Ercegovic

Original publication and holotype designation: Ercegovic, A. (1955). Contribution a la connaissance des Éctocarpes (Ectocarpus) del'Adriatique moyenne. Acta Adriatica 7: 1-74.

Description: Thallus cylindrical, erect, to 4 cm high and 2-4 mm thick. Medulla of several monopodially branched filaments terminating in a hyaline hair. Subapical intercalary meristem among youngest ramifications. Internal downwardgrowing hyphae present. Older part of thallus with central cavity. Medullary filaments separate easily under pressure. Cortex terminal on well developed radially extending subcortical filaments, consisting of assimilatory filaments and hyaline hairs. Assimilatory filaments simple or branched in upper part. Plurilocular sporangia uniseriate to biseriate, formed laterally from upper cells of assimilatory filaments. Unilocular sporangia and life history are not known. Needs confirmation.
