Description: Thallus erect, epiphytic on large brown algae, Cystoseira or Macrocystis, flattened polysiphonous axes flabellately branched and forming tufts on host; branches decurrent, strongly flattened, regularly alternate, distichous and branch diameter decreasing distally; branch tips involute, abruptly tapering to the apical cell. Approximately 12 pericentral cells distally, increasing to approximately 30 in proximal regions, mostly uncorticated, but some nodal cortication often present. Tetrasporangia tetrahedrally divided, borne singly per segment in a straight adaxial row in distal branches. Cystocarps spheroidal, sessile in various positions on subultimate branchlets; spermatangial capitula borne in distal parts of branchlets, disk-shaped, with pinnately branched veins and a margin of sterile cells; spermatangia covering flattened surfaces.
