Description: Thallus erect, cylindrical, to 40 cm high, much branched, epiphytic on sea grass. Medulla multi-stranded, longitudinal filaments sympodially branched. Subcortex absent or reduced to a single cell that supports the cortical structures. Assimilatory filaments simple, straight, 8-15 cells long, arising in groups from subcortical cells, with terminal cell enlarged. Phaeophycean hairs present. Unilocular sporangia ovoid to pyriform, borne at the base of assimilatory filaments. Plurilocular sporangia simple or branched, multiseriate, lanceolate, borne terminally on few-celled filaments within the cortex. Life history not known. Endemic to southern Australia.
