Description: Flattened, lanceolate, with surface and marginal proliferations, themselves sometimes proliferous. Stipe short. Medulla of periclinal filaments intermixed with rhizoids. Cortex of oblong to spherical cells, progressively smaller toward cuticle. Carpogonial branch 3-4-celled, not found in ampulla; supporting cell with a one-celled sterile lateral. Auxiliary cell subterminal on a primary ampullar filament, within a separate ampulla with branching to four orders. Fertilized carpogonium initiating connecting filaments directly, each contacting a single auxiliary cell. Distinct gonimolobes developing from gonimoblast initial. Spermatangia apparently undescribed. Tetrasporophyte isomorphic. Tetrasporangia small, cruciate, attached sub-basally within the cortex.
