Taxonomic note
"This species, described from the islet of Nisida (Gulf of Naples, Italy) by Delle Chiaje (1829: 14, pl. XLII), was no more recorded after its description. As noted by Zanardini (1864: 157) based on a letter of Gasparrini of 18 March 1864, Delle Chiaje, in accordance with his practice, didn't keep any specimens of his new species. Therefore, in absence of type material, both this taxon and combinations based on it, were quoted always with doubt among synonyms of Chrysymenia chiajeana by ancient authors like Meneghini (1844: 296), Kützing (1849: 866), Zanardini (1864: 155), Ardissone (1883: 211) and De Toni (1900: 544)." (Cormaci, Furnari & Alongi 2021: 207). - (26 August 2021) - M.D. Guiry
