This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Dictyota jamaicensis W.R.Taylor.

Bernatowicz 49-753; 12 April 1949; MICH; (Taylor 1960: 630) Notes: Taylor (1960: 630) notes that there is an isotype located at "herbario Universitatis Michiganensis". De Clerck (2003) gives the following data: Holotype: MICH 23953.
