Status of name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Lithophyllum racemus (Lamarck) Foslie
Named for Sophie C. Ducker, Australian botanist.
Originally described and listed in Guiry (1997) as Lithophyllum duckeri. As the species is named for Sophie Ducker, it should be spelled “duckerae”.
This is a new name for Lithophyllum crassum (Philippi) Heydrich 1897, a later homonym of Lithophyllum crassum Rosanoff 1866. - (12 Oct 2010) - Wendy Guiry
Included in Guiry (1997) as “duckeri”. Only known from dead material from Cornwall (see Chamberlain & Irvine, 1994: 70-72, ‘duckeri’) and may be extinct in the British Isles.
This is a marine species.
Type locality: Sicily (See Lithotamnion crassum Philippi) (Woelkerling 1983: 173). Lectotype (fig 17): L 943, 10...34 (Woelkerling 1983: 173). Notes: Lithothamnion crassum Philippi.
