Type locality: Mestervik, Malangen, Norway (Woelkerling 1998: 345). Lectotype: collector not indicated; 20.ix.1890; TRH unnumbered, includes slides 150 and 151; designated by Adey in Adey & Lebednik, 1967: 71 (Woelkerling 1998: 345). Notes: Isolectotypes: PC, Foslie no. 3, Thuret-Bornet Herbarium (box collection, filed under Lithothamnion coalescens); PC, unnumbered, General Herbarium box collection (non-fossil; filed in non-geniculate coralline type collections cabinet under basionym).
