This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Heteroptilon pappeanum (Kützing) Hommersand.

Holotype: Leiden; L539674 (Hommersand & al. 2006: 210) Notes: Holotype: Fragments in Leiden (barcode L539674) labeled Rhodocallis setigera Kg, Tab. Phyc. XII, 57. Cap, and also Ptilota setiger Harv. and Rhodocallis, Cap, (in pencil by Kützing). The words "Type" and the identification "Euptilota pappeana" are added.
