Taxonomic note
Papenfuss (1964: 33) notes that Montagne's figure of the habit of this plant has been reproduced by Kützing (1867: pl. 38: fig. a). Parkinson (In Chapman & Parkinson 1974: 262-3) considers that this enity may represent what is passing currently as Grateloupia prolonga J. Agardh but considers that futher studies are required. - (11 May 2006) - G.M. Guiry
