The type species (holotype) of the genus Paraphysomonas is Paraphysomonas vestita (A.Stokes) De Saedeleer.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Lepidochromonas subrotacea (H.A.Thomsen) Kapustin & Guiry.
