The type species (lectotype) of the genus Liagora is Liagora viscida (Forsskål) C.Agardh.

This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Macrocarpus walkerae (Husiman) Huisman & Showe M.Lin.

Montgomery; 29 Nov. 1996; intertidal reef at low tide; PERTH; 07141378 (Huisman 2006: 73) Notes: Originally listed as UWA by Huisman (2002); subsequently moved to Perth. Isotypes: UWA (Huisman 2002).

Eponomy
Named for Professor Diana I. Walker, University of Western Australia, the collector of Western Australia specimens.

General Environment
This is a marine species.

Habitat
Epilithic from the intertidal to 10 m depth (Huisman 2006: 74).
