Type Species
The type species (holotype) of the genus Platoma is Platoma cyclocolpum (Montagne) F.Schmitz.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Platoma gelatinosum (M.Howe) C.W.Schneider, McDevit, G.W.Saunders & C.E.Lane.
