Type locality: Arch Island, Princes Rocks, Three Kings Islands, New Zealand; (Millar & De Clerck 2007: 64) Holotype: A.J. K. Millar & R. De Nys; 24 November 1998; 25 m deep epiphytic on the lower main axes of Sargassum johnsonii V.J. Chapman; NSW; 486121 (Millar & De Clerck 2007: 64) Notes: Holotype specimen is filed in WELT. Isotypes: in NSW 486129 and 486130; in GENT ex NSW 486128.

General Environment
This is a marine species.

Description
Thalli to 2.5 mm in height, axial cells to 60 microns in diameter (including cell wall) by 48 microns long; attached by multicellular, uniseriate branched rhizoids that are modified determinate laterals; determinate laterals to 12 microns in diameter and 15 cells long, curved slightly abaxially; spermatangial heads to 72 microns long and 24 microns in diameter (spermatangia to 2 microns in diameter); carposporangia ovoid to 20 microns long by 12 microns in diameter. Tetrasporangia unknown.
