Lectotype locality: "In stagno Koelmensi pone Halam. cop[iose]" [near Halle, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany]; (Wallroth 1815: 190) Lectotype (Wallr., Annus Bot.: t. III; designated by T. Gregor, Hendr. Schub. Blindow & K. Weyer in Schubert and Blindow, 2016: 261): Notes: The lectotype later designated by Romanov (2022: 3): Wallroth; sine die; LE A0001536 (Romanov 2022: 3) was corrected to an epitype by Schubert & al. (2024: 351).

Adjective (Latin), having tufts of long weak hairs (Stearn 1983).
