Type Information
Holotype locality: 35. 1113 N and 77.0275 W, Highway 17, Bridge Station, Neuse River, North Carolina, USA; (Mason et al. 2007: 804) Holotype: Fig. 4a (epitype) (Mason et al. 2007: 804) Notes: The SEM stub VIMS-D42A (from culture CCMP 1838), containing the holotype material, will be archived with the collection of the Department of Botany, Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History, Washington, D.C., USA. Isotypes: Fig. 4, b, c, e, and f (SEM stub VIMS-D100A, from culture CCMP1840, Smithsonian Natl. Mus. Nat. Hist.).

Description
As in the genus. Kofoidan plate tabulationof Po, cp, X, 4', 2a, 6", 6c, PC, 5+s, 5'", Op, and 2"". Anterior intercalary plates are large and rhombic, with oblique angles. Asymmetrical hypotheca, with the left hypotheca tapered and longer than the right hypotheca. Mobile stages are small. Biflagellated cells 9.5-21.4 micons in length, including gametes, triflagellated planozygotes, and temporary benthic or resting cyst stages present.

Estuarine.
