This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Acrochaetium cytophagum (Rosenvinge) Hamel.

Type locality: "Locality. Sn: Only found at Helsingør, growing on Porphyra umbilicalis on the outer side of tlie southern mole in September." [Denmark]; (Rosenvinge 1909: 124) Type: "Rare on old specimens of P[orphyra] umbilicalis"; C?; Notes: Su: only found at Helsinger, growing on Porphyra umbilicalis on outer side of southern mole in September (INA).
