The type species (holotype) of the genus Trinovantedinium is Trinovantedinium capitatum P.C.Reid.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Protoperidinium leonis (Pavillard) Balech.

Type locality: Recent, intertidal sediments, Harwich, England; (INA 1996) Holotype (named): Geol. Dept., Univ. Sheffield; (INA 1996) Notes: There seems to be some confusion about type locality. In ING, Rosslare, Ireland is cited but in INA, Harwich, England is cited.

Described as a fossil.
