Type Species
The type species (holotype) of the genus Carpopeltis is Carpopeltis phyllophora (Hooker f. & Harvey) F.Schmitz.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Yonagunia formosana (Okamura) Kawaguchi & Masuda.

Type locality: Kotosho (Hung-t’uo), Taiwan; (Silva & al. 1996: 188) Lectotype: original protologue illustration of Okamura (1931, pl. 12, fig. 1); (Kawaguchi & al. 2004: 184) Notes: Orchid Island, Taiwan ( Kawaguchi et al. 2007).

Origin of Species Name
Adjective (Latin), from Formosa (Taiwan).
