Type Species
The type species (holotype) of the genus Pteromonas is Pteromonas aculeata Lemmermann.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Chloromonas rosae var. psychrophila Hoham, Bonome, Martin & Leebens-Mack.
