Type species
The type species (lectotype) of the genus Caulerpa is Caulerpa prolifera (Forsskål) J.V.Lamouroux.

Named for G. Ollivier, who wrote the flora of the Alpes Maritimes, and who collected the orginal material of this species.

This entity may represent small specimens of Caulerpa prolifera (Furnari, pers. comm.).
