This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Neogoniolithon pacificum (Foslie) Setchell & L.R.Mason
Type locality: Hinga, Japan (Woelkerling et al. 2005: 83). Lectotype: Yendo no. 873; viii.1900; TRH A10-533 (Woelkerling et al. 2005: 83).
