The type species (holotype) of the genus Dasyopsis is Dasyopsis plana (C.Agardh) Zanardini ex Falkenberg.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Dasya palmatifida (Weber Bosse) A.J.K.Millar & Coppejans.

Weber-van Bosse); (Millar 1996: 146) Notes: Lectotype (sterile): fig. 32; "Landoe. baei (?), Rotti, rif. collector not stated, Herb. Weber-van Bosse, in L, no number (Millar 1996: 146). Lectotype locality: 'doe, baei' Roti Island, W-Timor ( Coppejans & Millar 2000: 329).
