Type locality: in einem Graben des Moskauer bot. Gartens (Silva 1996-to date). Lectotype: Goroschankin 1905: pl. 3, fig. 1: strain SAG 55.91 (cryopreserved in liquid nitrogen) in the Sammlung von Algenkulturen, Univ. of Gottingen, Germany (epitype) (Demchenko et al. 2012: 283). Notes: ITS-2 DNA Barcode: Barcode E in Fig. 3 (Demchenko et al. 2012).
