Type locality: Recent sediment, Dome Kopanoar, Canadian Arctic (off Mackenzie River delta); (Index Nominum Algarum) Notes: Modern sediment of the Beaufort Sea, Canadian Arctic (Potvin et al., 2013: 849).

Adjective (Latin), very small; minute (Stearn 1973).
