Taxonomic note
"This species, collected at Menorca (the Balearic Islands, Spain) between 70 and 120 m depth, was described by Rodríguez y Femenías (1889a: 406, pl. IV/1-6) as showing a monostromatic laminar blade, 4-6 cm high, webbed-lobed, without median rib but provided with evident microscopic anastomosed veins, with small sori, scattered and convex, that is, protruding only on one face of the blade. Kylin (1924: 97) listed it among species inquirendae. Athanasiadis (2016: 1148) listed it among incertae sedis of Delesseriaceae. Both Wynne (2013: 138) and M.D. Guiry in Guiry & Guiry (2023) consider it as a taxonomiclly accepted species. But, in absence of additional data, we follow Kylin (op. cit.) and Gómez Garreta et al. (2001: 447 in considering that species a taxon inquirendum." (Cormaci & al. 2023: 483). - (06 December 2023) - M.D. Guiry
