Type locality: French coast of the Mediterranean Sea ("a profundiori maris Galloprovinciae rejectam") (Le Gall et al. 2018: 343). Lectotype: LD 22382 (Le Gall et al. 2018: 343, fig. 2). Notes: legit Solier (Agardh 1842).

According to Athanasiadis (1996: 653) and contrary to Parkinson (1980: 16), "All requirements of valid publication of Codomler's thesis [have been] fulfilled (Art. 41.5) - the name of a printer Is stated on the last page of Volume II (Art.30.8.Note 4 )."
