Type Species
The type species (holotype) of the genus Hincksia is Hincksia ramulosa J.E.Gray.

This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Feldmannia indica (Sonder) Womersley & A.Bailey.

Type locality: Pulo Kambing, Bima Bay, Sumbawa (Bima Island), Indonesia; (Lipkin & Silva 2002: 40) Type: Zollinger No. 3428; MEL; 26389 (Womersley & Bailey 1970: 288) Notes: On calcareous rocks (Lipkin & Silva 2002). According to Womersley & Bailey (1970: 288): "The type in MEL (26389) consists of two paper-mounted specimens and one (plus fragments) mica mount, together with Sonder's sketches, and labelled 'Planta a cl. Zollingero lecta. no. 3428, Bima, Ins. Sumbawa." The specimens are all of one taxon and not a mixture as Setchell (1924, p. 170) suspected."
