Nomenclatural note
G. Furnari (pers. comm.) writes: "Giaccone (1968: 400), in describing Halymenia cavernicola apparently indicated as Type his Fig. 4, but in the text he referred to "specimens" collected in the Aegean Sea as well to Herbarium sheets held in the Herbarium of Trieste. Therefore, in my opinion, the name is invalid because of the type was not clearly indicated. I saw, that also Athanasiadis (2016: 641, note 17) shares such an opinion." - (07 June 2019) - M.D. Guiry
