The type species (holotype) of the genus Bostrychia is Bostrychia scorpioides (Hudson) Montagne.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Bostrychia radicans (Montagne) Montagne.

Taxonomic note
Schneider & Searles (1991: 432) agree with Post (1936) that this entity is conspecific with Bostrychia radicans. See Taylor (1960) who keeps the two sepatate. Ganesan, West & Necchi (2018: 26) retain Post's synonymy. - (11 May 2006) - G.M. Guiry
